Criticism of the Lusk Committee of the New York State Legislature, which conducted raids seizing papers and mailing lists during 1919 as part of the first red scare. Material seized by the Lusk Committee was later used to compile arrest lists for the so-called Palmer Raids, conducted by J. Edgar Hoover and the Justice Department in early 1920.
